35 minutes until I can Nano my butt off!

1 Apr

Currently at work, my eyes seem to be glued to the clock.  I have mad butterflies in my stomach and I’m pretty sure my intestines can’t clinch any tighter.  Thus, the beginning of Camp Nanowrimo! I’m so excited to start writing, I can’t even begin to tell you how much my mind is wandering to those first few words.  I have decided against posting on the forums, or even writing them down on a piece of paper while I’m here at work due to the fact that I may get on a roll then have to stop to go home.  I fear not being able to pick it up again.

So I’m opting for writing a quick blog.

I visited my cabin.  Claimed my bunk, and am now comfy cozy at home.  My cabin mates all seem to be great so far, I just introduced myself, but they seem to talk more than last April’s Camp, which is always a good thing.  There’s just something about having to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with people who can’t even say ‘good morning’ to you.

Thirty minutes to go.  I should probably be busy doing something else.  In security, there’s always cameras on you, and I have one over my shoulder right now.  My left shoulder to be exact.  It’s placed about ten feet off the wall and aimed directly at the computer I’m sitting at.  I’m a rebel, I know.  At least I can type without looking at my fingers, I’m still watching the cameras in between checking the clock.  Yay multitasking!

I’m also excited because in one month and two days, it will be my 30th birthday.  My 20’s were wonderful, but I’m ready to move onto that next level.  I’m hoping not to hear ‘you’re still a baby’ as much as I did when I can officially call myself thirty.  There’s just a bias against twenty-somethings that you can never really shake no matter how much wisdom you put into something.  People older than me will always be that way, and I have accepted being younger than them, but at the same time, how old do I have to get before that ‘baby’ label is wiped off my front?!

Oh well.  I have closing duties to do.

For everyone who is Camping along with the rest of us, good luck!

Oh Brother.

15 Dec

So i have this knitting machine.  Its a Brother KnitKing 260.  I kindly got it from a good family friend and I’ve tried using it every now and again, which obviously is not enough.  After the first few passes, the stitches are either dropped or looped and after searching for troubleshooting, it seems i will have to take the whole thing apart and do a bit of maintenance on it.  Now its just up to finding manuals for it to help me do so as it seems hard to find a place around here that does work with knitting machines or even places that have classes for it.
I am excited to use it, however.
Not much has taken flight since my last update in the crafting world.  Trying at selling the wristwarmers again at The Marketplace this year, when i checked just before Halloween, none of them had sold, so i have to get over there to see if that has changed.
I started another scarf with the illusion knitting, about halfway done but had to stop due to NaNoWriMo!  I made 58k words in November and still have a long ways to go in the story before it is finished, which I’m saving for camp nano.
I’ve found a few patterns for straight needle slippers and have half of one knit.  I started it last night and got too tired to finish, so those are still on them.
Otherwise its just been a struggle to get into a crafty mode lately.
Can’t remember if i have mentioned it before or not, but i inquired a new kitten last August.  He’s now going onto 6 months old, a tabby kitten i like to call Figaro…or Fig, for short.  Panther has finally taken a liking to him and has to be everywhere Fig is…and visaversa.  Its fun to watch them play together, and those moments i do get the yarn out, I’m battling 2 cats off me so naturally, projects are taking longer to finish.

Oh well, tis life =^^=

Here’s to happy knitting and merry holidays to all of you!

Nostalgic Nightmares

13 May

When i was young, i used to love watching television.  The commercials also managed to keep my attention for a while, especially the McDonalds and Kids Crete Sparkling toothpaste commercials.

That is until i had a nightmare featuring the kids Crest Sparkling Toothpaste blob and Ronald McDonald…together.

I usually am reminded of this dream a couple of times a year, then forget about it in time.  Tonight, however, while painting my nails, my topcoat smelled of the kids create toothpaste from my youth and i was taken back to the morning i awoke, clutching a heart shaped pillow mygrndmother had made for me…which was also part of the dream…and was also disposed of shortly thereafter.

I had watched the wizard of oz a LOT as a kid, so it was no surprise that this nightmare took place in my own fantasy Kansas world.  A tornado had chased me, and with it, the pillow had somehow worked itself in to be a villain. This was only half unsettling.

Enter Ronald McDonald and the Blob.  They both claimed that my life would be saved from the tornado if i would only marry one of them.

For what felt like hours, they hounded my dream that night, each taking an arm and pulling me, forcing me to pick which one of them I’d marry.

To this day, just the sight of either character brings an evil shiver to my spine and has me wanting my mommy.

Probably the reason why i don’t  care for clowns.  I’m not particularly scared of clowns…i just don’t like them.

Do you guys remember the blob?  Go YouTube him if you don’t know what I’m talking about, and get an idea of what i fear.  Picture him dueling it out with Ronald for my hand, and picture yourself as an 8 year old girl.

I haven’t yet had a dream about the only other character from my childhood that scares me…the McDonalds man-in-the-moon Guy.  For an extra spooky encounter, go look him up, too.

I assure you, once you see it…it can’t be unseen.
